David works part-time for Farming and Countryside Education as the North East England Coordinator. He combines this with a part time role as the NE Manager for the John Muir Award (a national environmental charity) and freelance delivery of fieldwork and study visits in County Durham and North Yorkshire. David’s career began with his gaining an Outdoor/Environmental Education degree in Liverpool and a 4 year post leading ‘outdoor learning’ in a large comprehensive school in South Yorkshire. Keen to keep close contact with the outdoors David taught in and managed a series of local authority outdoor education centres, and until 2013 was an Education Adviser with Durham County Council. David’s immediate connection to farming comes through his father-in-law who continues to farm in North Yorkshire, and where David has leant a regular hand over a number of years.
David lives in Sedgefield, County Durham, and works from his home office.
