Are you a farmer or farm educator looking for ways to train to deliver or enhance educational visits to your premises?
FACE has an excellent reputation for high quality training of farmers and farm educators.
We have developed, as part of the Access To Farms partnership, the highly regarded CEVAS (Countryside Visits Accreditation Scheme) courses which provide a comprehensive introduction to everything you need to get started with farm visits
What do we offer? We can help you to
In addition to our CEVAS training we offer bespoke training through our team of Regional Co-ordinators throughout England and Wales.
Our team of expert educators have worked with retailers, food brands, farming unions, agricultural societies, colleges, charities and government agencies to equip individuals and teams for working with schools.
FACE also runs regular seminars and workshops on a wide variety of topics from Maths on the Farm to Outdoor Learning in Secondary Schools.
CEVAS is an accredited training programme for anyone wanting to provide education or therapeutic (care farming) experiences on a farm or countryside location.
Over 2,300 farmers and farm educators have already taken the course, which includes an OCN Level 2 award. CEVAS-trained farmers welcome around ½ million school children onto farm every year.
CEVAS takes the form of two days’ attendance at a farm or countryside location where you will learn about the practicalities involved in hosting visits; how food and farming can be incorporated into the school curriculum; and how to communicate effectively with both teachers and pupils. With the help of your tutor you will gather useful documents into a portfolio which is then submitted for accreditation. We help you every step of the way!
The CEVAS accreditation, developed with members of the Access to Farms partnership, is not only useful for personal development, but is also recognised by a number of insurers, schools and local authorities as a mark of good practice. It is usually heavily discounted thanks to sponsorship and donations.
Visit My Farm, is a whole website dedicated to advice and resources for farmers who want to open their farms to schools and the public. You can use the site for self-based training by stepping through the how-to guides, case studies, videos and the resource library. Visit My Farm was developed by FACE in collaboration with other educational and agricultural partners
