Our Regional Education Co-ordinators use their expertise to help schools build bespoke sessions in a variety of curriculum subjects.
At Ashleigh Primary School, the Primary Science National Curriculum was used as the basis for a timetable designed to enable the whole school to study food and farming. The programme included an explicit focus on ‘working scientifically’ which is a key element of the new Science National Curriculum.
Teaching staff were given the option to link their Maths, English or other lessons in the morning to that day’s theme too. Themes included Soil, Plants, Animals and Birds, and finally Habitats and Food Chains to bring the week’s learning together.
Kevin Finch, Y3 Science Co-ordinator said:"Involving someone from outside of the school I think helped to push the teachers' creativity and enthusiasm further and I was thrilled with the results."
